I like hiking. I like discovering new trails and where they lead. And at the same time, I like my family, and my house, and my job. So I hike when I can. In the evening after work for a few miles in a nearby park.

On a Saturday to the ridge of a mountain and then back to my car. And I have to tell you, those hikes challenge me.

I’m not in great shape. I’m a “trail whale” — an overweight and out of shape person who just likes walking in the woods. But the great thing about hiking is that the trails welcome anyone who wants to walk on them.

What In Blue Blazes

So no matter your level of physical conditioning or experience as a hiker, I hope you’ll enjoy this channel. I share what I’ve learned that you can use to make you a more confident hiker. I also, in turn, look for people who will share their knowledge and advice with me. The Appalachian Trail is marked with white blazes and then blue blaze trails intersect with it. To a through hiker those blue blazes mean going off trail.

But today hikers like me those blue blaze trails often are the trail. They’re the ones that lead to and from the parking areas or that give us a way to turn an out-and-back hike along the same route into a more interesting loop.

So, let’s have some trail fun and blaze a trail! Get out and enjoy the life of trail exploring – and listen to the soothing sounds of nature.
