Hiking Safety

Hiking trails, and the use of ATV’s

If you enjoy hiking trails, it is important that you are courteous if you ever use an ATV on a trail. It grieves me when I go on a hiking trip and have to deal with uncaring people who tear through a hiking trail as if they are the only people on the planet.

When hopping on your ATV, its vital to have respect for the trails and lands on which you ride. As in most sectors of life, a few bad apples can have an effect on the reputation of recreational ATV riders. there were stories in the press about 4-wheelers ripping up the trails with poor riding etiquette, littering, and a general disdain for the land and environment.

This makes it tougher for all of the deferential riders to be welcomed in employing trails. The first and most critical rule of riding is to get authorization of you are going to ride on personal property.

And when you have authorization from land owners, use safe and correct driving strategies, clean up after yourself, and attempt to fix any damage you may do to the land or property ( or at the very least let the owner know there’s possible damage ).

When riding your ATV, its vital to know the terrain, and avoid areas like streams, soft grassy areas, and steep hills with a soft track. Also take care when riding on dust roads-its never acceptable to dig up land, trails, or roads.

Always try and keep the trails in good shape for the following rider. Naturally, together with etiquette-always use correct safety strategies, that should keep you in line as far as proper etiquette.

respect the plant and animal life surrounding riding trails also. If there are any areas roped off, go along with the wishes of the landowner and stay away-there are loads of great trails to ride, and by respecting the guidelines off the road, we are going to continue to have adequate areas to ride. By employing easy commonsense and safe riding methodologies, riders should see trails in good shape, and maybe far more trails opening in days to come.
